CNY 2013! / Preparation for Valentine's Day

YEAH it's Chinese New Year!!

Hope you all had a great CNY day 1-3 people. Received many hong baos? :)

Chinese New Year has always been one of my favourite holidays due to the ang baos, new clothes (what's new I know) and goodies, but it has been becoming pretty stagnant lately.... (I can practically memorise the order of the events of each day since it has been happening for the past 17 years of my life. not gonna change any time soon).

On the eve of the eve of CNY, my classmates and I (erm, a precious portion of my classmates :D) went out (for a legit outing for once!). We initially wanted to catch Ah Boys to Men 2 but the times available were all sold out. So instead, we went to J Cube @ Dhoby Ghaut (brings back memories of when the sisters went to battle it out with pokemon cards haha) and two rounds of bowling. I personally had so much fun hanging out with them. It was so chill <3

Why the sad face, clar?

Smile!!

Nicole and Stuart :D (they looks rather stoic here 0.0)

The three boys. I can never stop laughing when they are together.

With The Cute One. LOL

My First OOTD! 'Angelicus'
Playsuit: The Editor's Market (im obssessed with that place)
Bag: Scape Underground one of the shops
Shoes: Germany 'Street' (thats the shop name)
Choker: Zara
Rings: Elitrend, Cineleisure, Korea.

I really wanted to try out a completely different look from my usual black and hence, this.
Angels and goddesses were my main inspirations for this look.
Even though it is a really sweet look but I wanted to retain some hints of elegance or I would have looked too out-of-character, so the clean lines of the playsuit and pointed pumps (I think) does the trick.
What do you think? :)

Day 1 of the actual CNY was pretty enjoyable because I got to dress up and eat to my heart's content. I'm starting to regret it coz I put on so much weight but that aside, it was an amazing day. The family started off the day with an awesome lunch whipped up by my Ah Ma and Gugu. Needless to say, it was scrumplicious. Then, I went home to get ready for visitations. It's pretty funny to see all the OOTDs flooding instagram. I guess CNY really does give people the excuse to dress up ;)

SUPER CUTE spongebob ang bao I got from my Aunt.
I was squealing when I received it, no kidding.

Giant prawns, abalone, promfret fish (or is it pomfret), braised pork and mushrooms, spinach and pig stomach soup with rice. Absolutely heavenly. I bet my aunt and granny woke up really early just to prepare this, so grateful.

-VISITATIONS-

With my cousin Alyssa! Even though she is Primary 6 this year, she is still so petite. I keep thinking that she is only primary 3.

You know why this dude has such a wide smile on his face? Coz his family members forced him to take a camwhore shot with me and he was SO SHY. Both of us found it so hillarious when I held up the camera. Oh and Ryan is only a year younger than me.

 With my Dad!
His shirt was so bright, a butterfly flew around him thinking that his shirt was legit flowers and tried sucking pollen out of it. That moment....

 With my awesome POR!

I mean, just look at my Dad's face.

With my aunt who is forever young 0.0

My second OOTD! 'Lady in Red'
Dress: Lot 1 (the boutique beside Cassis)
Shoes: Forever 21
Earrings: Diva
Hair Bow: Korea
Lips: Russian Red by MAC

I put SO much thought into this outfit that it almost distracted me from my everyday work.

I wanted to go with the red/pink/orange colour scheme because it would definitely stand out from the sea of red/black combos (for those who were actually wearing red!) but the stores I visited didn't sell what I was looking for (and believe me, I did my homework on it).

Even though I kind of expected it already, quite a number of people surprisingly didnt wear red or other citrusy colours. The creams were okay, but I couldnt fathom why people would wear black all over for CNY. Isn't it supposed to be inauspicious?
(Unless of course, they researched about the auspicious colour that they should wear on CNY and it happens to be black and blue. But not in the Pig's case)

I really wanted to break away from the cliche 'cheong-sam inspired' dresses that I have been seeing literally on almost every single blogshop I visited. The maroon/wine-red/burgundy colour scheme was getting really overused as well. (especially with the rise of the maroon skater skirts)

I turned to Madame Dita Von Teese for inspiration and decided to go for the vintage, old-hollywood look while still maintaining the colour scheme and this is what I got.

---------------------------------------------------------

Valentine's Day is coming up! Even though I don't have a boyfriend to celebrate it with, I really wanna do something for all my friends this year because honestly, they have given so much more to me than a lover ever could.

In preparation for Valentine's, I gotta think up of something really easy to make and make it in huge quantities, so I thought of baking cupcakes for everyone and decorate it. Really hope they like it!
Hmm, maybe I will do something a little extra for those who are REALLY important to me, as well as for my secret Valentine. (I wonder who is MY Secret Valentine, really hope he or she does something for me! But even if they don't its ok lol)

Here are a list of recipes that I am considering, which one do you guys think is the best?

Red Velvet Cheesecake Marbled Cupcakes
Not pretty but definitely delicious.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes
Unique combination of flavours, and looks really good too!

Peach cupcakes with Peach Buttercream
I'm sure everyone loves peaches, RIGHT?

Brownie Cupcakes
Everyone's favourite.

Peach Bellini / Strawberry Champagne Cupcakes
It's pink, and it has liquor. Perfect combination for Valentine's Day.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Drunken Strawberry filling.
I may modify this recipe a little bit, I personally do not like white chocolate buttercream a lot.

So, which is your favourite recipe? :) You guys are gonna be eating this after all HAHA.

Hope you guys have a wonderful rest of the week, see you next time ;)
